Learning Exchange on Strategy

Charlie —  October 1, 2013

One of our learning exchanges in our recent Innové Immersion Day was on Strategy, a thoughtful mindset that every young social entrepreneur needs. Here is Kevin Kickhaefer’s slide deck from the Immersion Day. Hope it is helpful and you seek to launch your venture!

Today, The New York Times launched a startup incubator. Many are asking why they would do this. They have a pretty good answer right on their site:

It is simple: The New York Times, and media in general, are in the midst of unprecedented change. Our core purpose remains to enhance society by creating, collecting and distributing high-quality news and information. We want to push ourselves and push others to find the best ways to do so, and we believe that timeSpace can be a part of that process.

Like the Times, we are looking for the best ideas. The ideas that will grow the Kingdom of God.

Google justifies the launch with this statistic: there are approximately 400 million entrepreneurs across 54 countries, and 69 million early-stage entrepreneurs offering new products and services. The company says it will focus on three key areas:

  • Partnerships with strong organizations that serve entrepreneurs in local communities.
  • Google-led programs to bring our teams and our tools directly to entrepreneurs.
  • Placing relevant Google tools in the hands of startups as they are getting off the ground and ready to scale.
